From the surprising application of embossing on the cover to the mouth-watering combination of a pink cover with yellow endpapers: this is a book that has mastered the art of seduction. Its overall feel and first impression are spot on. Although this first impression is just a touch more exciting than the – effective – design of the interior, great choices have been made in binding the two components together. For instance, the lines on the cover correspond to the consistent division of space in the drawings in the interior. The colours pink and yellow also feature strongly in these drawings. Another good decision was to print the drawings at their original scale, meaning that we can easily lose ourselves in the many patterns and details. Upon close inspection, the jury did find some minor imperfections. The photographs at the back printed on yellow paper have insufficient detail in the , which means they disappear towards the top of the page and do not form a good framework. This could have been prevented with more attention to the lithography.
