Drawing on 600 pages of declassified, leaked and smuggled archive documents, the book illustrates the ways in which colonial violence was imprinted on landscapes and bodies. It is both a historical document and an essential tool for understanding the links between nuclear energy, colonialism and resistance. The jury appreciated the dynamic way in which the archive images are structured, and the way in which the colors convey a faded, almost asphyxiating atmosphere.
