In November 2023, MacGuffin Nº 13 The Letter collaborated with Archief Cairo, a design collective from Egypt, to create a temporary design studio. This week-long event brought together young image-makers, designers, and writers who explored the significance and power of Arabic letters.
The jury was convinced by the publication’s composition, in which two languages coexist in equal measure. The format of the publication itself refers to the magazine of which it is a special issue – Macguffin Magazine – while at the same time offering the subtlety of a change of binding with a more artisanal connotation. The publication is a research whose parts are intelligently graphically distinguished by color and paper choices, the graphic material are faithfully respected and enhanced by the choices of scale and legibility.
