Pioniers in Keramiek manifests in twofold. The amalgamated image produced by the folded dust jacket is the first indication of the dual narrative. The design choices regarding information hierarchy stand out in the sensitive treatment of the bilingual text as a dance rather than a prescription mirroring, allowing for movement and dimensionality. The student jury agrees that while the italicisation of the English text is useful in titles and small captions, it is redundant in the larger body text blocks because the distinction between the Dutch and English copy is already evident enough through the consistent placement. Although blue typography was a trend this year, the use of blue is an overtly intentional choice — a strong reference to Delfts Blauw.
