Documentation is at the volcanic core of Amidst the fire, I am not burnt. The image sequence investigates the histories encapsulated between the cataclysmic layers. Vesuvius is unique in its relationship to photography as the first volcanic eruption photographically captured, this relationship is investigated in the photobook.
The typographic interlude is reminiscent of the newspapers that document tangible history in the shape of written information, while the imagery follows the intangible yet equally informative history captured in the landscape and culture surrounding Mount Vesuvius. While the typographic section is critical in the narrative of the photobook and the layout is indicative of the source material, the student jury feels that the choice of typeface, typesetting and visual hierarchy can be strengthened.
