This is one of those carefully produced books whose design is practically invisible. Some books have no need of anything more. The collected poems of Esther Jansma are never going to be a best-seller, but the publisher has been bold enough to bring them out in a nice hardback edition that has been soberly designed. Outside and inside, everything is consistently restrained. Paved paths for the reader. The happy choice of the fairly new Collis from the Enschedé Font Foundry gives the book a modern aspect. No dead poets here: this poetry is very much alive.
