A vast mass of material, both text and images, and the latter accordingly very diverse in character. Reflections on the collection of the Stedelijk Museum which together give a ‘kaleidoscopic take’ on modern and contemporary art and design, as we read on the back cover.
The text pages are printed on pleasant pale yellow paper which is easy on the eye. The works themselves are on whiter stock, for the most part more than one illustration to a page, carefully placed, superbly printed, and with partially decapitated headers. An attractive cover that ties in well with the interior.
A satisfying book in every respect: it feels good, lies open nicely, and is an effective invitation to immerse oneself in the rich material. Quite simply a tour de force which despite the multifariousness of the contents is very much a unified whole.
