This paperback first grabs the attention thanks to its formidable cover design: the cover, printed on one side only in black is – extremely appropriately given the content of the book – enriched by a snail’s trail in pearl foil. This makes the cover a superb representation of Perverted Norm, Normal Pervert in its entirety: in balance, and standing out thanks to small design decisions that make some demands in terms of production. The interior is printed double-sided in black and somewhat fluorescent orange, with minimal margins that require highly accurate cutting. And this has been delivered.
The link between genderfluidity in humans and sexuality and gender in snails offers not only a playful perspective, but is also highly relevant at a time when humankind is stepping down from its pedestal and finding a place among all forms of life – including the snail.
