Smaller Pieces, Smaller Pieces! - Noa Wassink

What an interesting way to give shape to a book! Smaller Pieces, Smaller Pieces! invited me into a world where craftsmanship and creativity came together in an unique reading experience. Handmade with attention to detail, artistry and innovation of its creator, which in this case is a fellow art student! What stood out to me about this graduation project was both the cover and back, crafted from vibrant green acrylic glass. The title, laser cut into the surface, added a touch of sophistication and intrigue in my opinion. The book closed with a matching elastic band, adding both practicality and aesthetic charm. What sets this design apart is the thoughtful incorporation of small indents in the acrylic glass to hold the elastic band securely in place. It’s a small detail, but one that demonstrates Wassink’s dedication to both form and function. Upon opening the book carefully, I was pleased by the weight of the paper and its quality. The different typefaces that were used on the pages to me matched the one used on the book it’s cover. A very intriguing read!
