Full auto 3: the title of this work is to be sketched is a publication that contains the work done through full auto foundry, a workshop-based type foundry that explores how processes of automation and tool-assisted sketching can influence the design of typefaces. It is part of documentation, part of the drawing tool itself, since it is meant to be used a bit as a sketchbook, to draw, to trace, to combine forms and patterns. This intention is emphasised by the paper choices and the binding method. Holding the book and seeing the space that is designated to be filled yourself feels somehow so important it makes you reflect on the drawing process and its meaning, also in the context of full auto foundry. The whiteness and softness of some pages and cover, have a quiet intention of absorbing up the signs of usage of the book: easily scuffed, easily stained, and easily marked accidentally or purposefully.
