One of the rare occurrences where I look at a book and immediately sense that there is not much to assess or judge because everything feels and looks in place. Far Away from Home is deeply engaging. The book’s careful sequencing of images and thoughtful use of text invite readers to consider the complexities of history and the interplay between visual and linguistic communication. The design of the book shows very subtle and smart details that enhance the experience of engaging with the content, with smartly placed pauses throughout the design. It is evident that the role of the author went hand in hand with the designer; there is no clashing or questionable choices, just a well-done harmonious marriage between design and content.
