Calamita/à engaged over fifty authors and researchers to explore the representation of catastrophe through site-specific projects. These works prompted critical reflections on topics like landscape transformation, energy exploitation, and the complex relationship between humanity, nature, and power. The project also addressed issues of social marginalization, minority struggles, and the tension between individual and collective identity. Browsing through its layers, we discover 7 texts on abrasive yellow paper, different stories approaching the said catastrophe as well as the work separating six image makers.
The jury recognized the quality of the printed images, the way they play with the folds of the page, the way the book opens, and the ingenuity of the systems for choosing between Italian and English translations, annotations and reproductions of written texts. This book gives us the space to rethink the profound links with natural spaces and the human impact on the modification of territories.
