Blackbook - Kriz Olbricht - De Best Verzorgde Boeken

A book that got more and more interesting as I inspected it. Contrary to its title, the book’s cover consists out of a white canvas with bold, black text only. To me, the minimalistic aesthetic of the cover, seemed to hint to depth in the content within. A contrast that could also be found in the book title and the way it was given shape. The all-over feel of the book, being a tad bit bulky and uneven, made me curious what I’d discover upon opening its first pages. Pages which in my opinion were of a nice weight, touch, and sturdiness. As I delved deeper in the book, I discovered a hidden surprise: an envelope-like cover nestled within its pages. This envelope carried a collection of photographs in the form of stickers, full of vibrant colors! Another contrast to be noted, since inserting these stickers on top of the otherwise black and white landscape of the book, offers a burst of visual energy, so to speak. I think Olbricht has done a wonderful job of making me, as the reader, a part of the reading experience itself.
