By simple means the designer has created a carefully presented, attractive book of these modern animal parables. The short philosophical musings of the gander and his brother are illustrated by Gerda Dendooven in a laconic, slightly absurd style. A small hardback, it is printed in only two colours: the running text in matt blue and the headings and folios in bright orange. The illustrations fit in beautifully with this colour scheme, while the orange is carried on into the endpapers, headbands and ribbon marker. The typography and binding have been carefully done so that the book is a pleasure to open and read. The panel were pleased with this unpretentious, well made, enjoyable reading book for children and adults.
