Sadly very little in the way of novels gets submitted for judging in The Best Dutch Book Designs, but here is one example. The publisher has elected for a hardback edition, foil printing and a modest bellyband, headbands and a ribbon marker. This is a luxury edition of 6,000 copies. The panel were highly appreciative of the care that has gone into this undertaking, though the choice of paper for the interior was felt to be regrettable. Perhaps it was dictated by the size of the print run, though this title is guaranteed to see good sales. The occasional bled-off double page spreads marking the beginning of a new period in the narrative are surprisingly out of the ordinary and a distinct adornment. This beautifully designed series was nominated as a single entry.
